It’s been a while since I’ve checked in and I apologize for that lapse.  I am busily working on my second epistle and it keeps my mind occupied in ways I had not anticipated.  This does keep me busy and totally preoccupied so that I often forget to do anything I should be doing.  Have been hearing from several people lately that they love my book so much that they are sharing it with others…one lady said she shared it with 40 others.  Nice that she wants to share….not so nice that I could have sold 40 more books…I do appreciate the support and I do appreciate the fact that she likes it so much that she wants to share…I don’t think people think about the poor author that really would like to SELL a few.  Guess that’s life in this business.  Take care and keep buying books, mine and others.  Sue

And the beat goes on and on and on…Had another book club adventure with the ladies and gents of the Fireside Readers at the Red Deer Public Library this past week.  It was a lively discussion and the folks were so generous with their comments and great questions.  I am working diligently toward my next book…joined a writing group and am up to my eyeballs in research towards this end.  So happy for the group as it motivates me to write write write.  On ward.

Just returned from a wonderful evening sponsored by the Writers Guild of Alberta for Red Deer writers.  It was an evening of presentations, laughs, lots of wine and lots of good conversation.  I am now officially motivated to continue with my second manuscript and hopefully to find a group of people willing to read my stuff.  Still happy to say Bend Like the Willow continues to sell and am about to do a presentation to a local book club and enjoy a few hours with some new friends and readers.  Have learned a lot on this writing journey….hope to learn more.

Its August already.  I thought Bend Like the Willow sales would slow considerably but they continue ….Thanks, I appreciate the support.  I am still getting offers to speak from book clubs and libraries so I am more than grateful for the continuing support.  I intend to do some updating on the book itself, so stay tuned for that event.  Perhaps its time to push it further with a new cover and some further editing and more advertising.  I shall see how much energy I have by the fall.  I am also working on my next book which will take a lot of research.  Anyway, onward…before we know it, summer will be over and then we will all get to work on new endeavours.

BOOK CLUBS, I love you

I spent yesterday with a wonderful group of women here in Red Deer.  They asked amazing questions and were very welcoming.  Love that even after two years I still get to do these presentations and spend time talking about my book.  Every meeting is different and every meeting teaches me something new.  It is a joy… meeting so many new people.  Well, on to the next one…..hope it is soon.

Been traveling these days and in May met up with a friend I had not seen for 55 years.  She gathered her book club together and we had a great book gig in her beautiful home in Salt Lake City.  They had all bought the book from  Guess there is still some indication that the book is still selling and has developed a life of its own.  For this I am grateful.  Have another event in Red Deer on June 17, 2014 and looking forward to that.  Thanks for all the support from the local crowds….awesome.

Happy to report that I was able to run another bunch of books.  Sunworks in Red Deer has asked for more and I have been getting steady requests from people to buy them directly.  Next Wednesday I have another gig in Red Deer to talk to a group of people that work with refugees from various countries.  I am looking forward to doing a presentation and reading for them.  Perhaps it will be a door way to additional events.  Bend Like the Willow seems to holding its own and still going strong.  I am so grateful for this whole opportunity to get my story out.  Thanks to all my supporters.  Its been quite a ride.

Its March Already

Can’t believe it’s March 2014 already.  Bend Like the Willow continues to sell and I am about to run another load so I have them on hand for the upcoming events.  I continue to meet with people who hear my story and want to talk.  I have met some wonderful, caring people this way in little cafes and coffee shops and have had some awesome chats with them.  It is most interesting to see how people internalize  a book.  They also come up with the most interesting questions.  Some times I don’t even know how to answer them.  Anyway, if anyone is looking for a copy of the book they are available at PageMasters in Edmonton, Sunworks in Red Deer, Pandora’s Boox in Olds, or from me directly.  Just e-mail me using the e-mail available on this web.  Well, happy March everybody and keep in touch.

Had a wonderful book event last weekend. (February 8).  The ladies of the Carstairs Bookies invited me to attend their discussion of Bend Like the Willow-Tale of an Arab Promise.  It was out in the country on a cold night and took some motivation to even get up and go there.  So glad I did.  These ladies really know their books.  They were so kind and so smart and so inquisitive.  I am so happy when I get to go to these events….really makes me happy that I took the time to write the book and share it with others.  I keep thinking the book will slowly fade away but it just keeps on movin….Next book event is in April…no firm date yet but am looking forward to it.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I am happy to report that Bend Like the Willow is now available from a new little bookstore in Olds, Alberta.  Its called Pandora’s Boox and Tea.  Its an amazing little place…If you are in the area be sure to check it out.  Looking forward to my next bookclub gig.  This one will be in Carstairs, Alberta.  Still so grateful for the chance to make contact with people throughout Alberta.  Well, keep in touch and keep reading.  I am hoping to start my next book soon.  Stay tuned.  Have a great 2014.
